Vernacular Names: Indian Pipistrelle.

Synonyms: Pipistrellus (Pipistrellus) afghanus Gaisler 1970 ; Pipistrellus (Pipistrellus) blythii Wagner 1855 ; Pipistrellus (Pipistrellus) coromandelianus Blyth 1863 ; Pipistrellus (Pipistrellus) coromandelicus Blyth 1851 ; Pipistrellus (Pipistrellus) micropus Peters 1872 ; Pipistrellus (Pipistrellus) nicobaricus Fitzinger 1861 ; Pipistrellus (Pipistrellus) parvipes Blyth 1853 .

Distribution: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India (including Nicobar Isls), Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Burma, Cambodia, Thailand, S China.

Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (lc).

Discussion: Subgenus Pipistrellus . Does not include aladdin; see Corbet (1978 c). Does not include portensis and tramatus; see Corbet and Hill (1992). See comment under pipistrellus . Reviewed by Bates and Harrison (1997).
