Platypepla Warren, 1900 . Type species: Platypepla nudaria Warren (1900) a junior synonym of P. spurcata (Warren, 1897) (Heterolocha) . South Africa.

Description

Head. Chaetosemata extended across head. Antenna of male fasciculate, not bipectinate.

Wings (Fig. 1). Weakly falcate, ochreous to ochreousbrown.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 61 View Figures 61–63 ). Uncus triangular, pointed. Gnathos present. Valva: completely divided; costa shorter than sacculus or of equal length, with one or more stout spines; sacculus narrow to much broader than costa. Saccus short, pointed.

Pregenital abdomen of male ( Fig. 62 View Figures 61–63 ). Sternum A8 pointed bearing a short point medially in two species.

Female genitalia ( Fig. 63 View Figures 61–63 ). Corpus bursae small and covered with small spines.

Diagnosis. The shape of the valva is distinctive.

Distribution. The genus occurs in much of the Afrotropical region, but its distribution is centred on southern Africa.

Foodplants. Moquiniella and Tieghemia spp. (Loranthaceae) .
