Type locality. Cumaná , state of Sucre, Venezuela .

Distribution. Known from Brazil, Colombia, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela ( Plt. 331A View Plate 331 ). In Brazil, widespread in Amazonia and Guianan savannas, with marginal records in northernmost Cerrado ( Plt. 331A View Plate 331 ), at low elevations ( Plt. 331B View Plate 331 ). Observed in the field in forest and open areas ( Cunha and Nascimento, 1983b; Martins and Oliveira, 1998; FranÇa et al., 2006).
