Type material. Holotype ( BMNH): 1 male, “ Brunei: E 115[°]7’ N 4[°]34’, Kuala Belalong FSC, Dipterocarp forest, BM (NH) 1991-173”, “ Ground Malaise 20A, 770m alt 7.ii.92, N. Mawdsley NM302”.

Description. Male. Body oblong, slightly convex, shining, covered with yellow suberect setae. Head and scutellum brownish, pronotum brownish with lightened, yellowish margins. Antennae yellow, legs yellowishbrown, ventrum and epipleura brownish, mouthparts brown. Elytra brown with yellowish pattern. Pattern of each elytron consists of sutural stripe, big yellow band in the basal 1/4 of elytron (excluding humeral portion, which is brown), subtriangular yellow macula at apex, a lightened transverse band is also present behind the middle of elytra.

Head moderate in size, dorsal side slightly convex, strongly punctate; clypeus long, with sides diverging apically, anterolateral angles rounded, and shallowly emarginated margin. Eyes big, very prominent; the distance between the eyes ca. 1.5 times as wide as the maximum diameter of an eye. Antennae filiform, long. Pronotum slightly convex, covered with distinct punctation similar to that on head; antero-lateral corners rounded, slightly projecting anteriorly; anterior and lateral margins gently arcuate; postero-lateral corners straight; posterior margin slightly bisinuate; PW/PL 2.2. Scutellum relatively small, distinctly punctate, equilaterally triangular. Elytra oblong-oval, widest at the basal 1/3, elongated, strongly punctate; humeri well marked; EL/EW 1.36; EL/PL 4.36; EW/PW 1.45; TL/EW 1.67. Legs relatively long. Hind tibial spurs well developped, longer is almost straight, shorter is curved; dorsal spurs ca. 2.0 times as long as ventral ones, ca. 0.7 times as long as hind tarsomere 1. Sternites III–IV sparsely covered with short setae, setae are longer on mesal part of sternite III and IV, sternite IV has two transverse areas devoided of setation situated close to its anterior margin; sternites V–VII closely and evenly covered with long setae; caudal margin of sternite VII shallowly emarginate. Tergite VII subtrapezoidal, without apodemes. Tergite VIII moderately sclerotized, trapezoidal, bearing long setae on apical margin, with a pair of long and stout apodemes; tergite IX lightly sclerotized, apical portion small, with minute setae at apex, with a pair of long apodemes; sternite IX consisting of paired plates with relatively long apical setae. Tegmen well sclerotized, connected with penis; basal part semicircular; parameres large, sinuate, outcurved, apices with 2–3 denticles, tapering apically. Each paramere with pointed mesal process which is ca. 2.0 times shorter than main arm of paramere. Penis well sclerotized, apical portion long, narrow, subtly widening apically, with rounded apex, ca. 0.3 times exceeding the length of parameres.

Female. Unknown.

Measurements. Male (n = 1): TL 3.75 mm; PW 1.55 mm; PL 0.7 mm; EL 3.05 mm; EW 2.25 mm.

Distribution. Borneo Isl.

Etymology. This species is dedicated to Malcolm Kerley, Curator of Scirtidae at the Natural History Museum (London).

Notes. Somewhat similar to Scirtes malaccanus sp. n., but elytral pattern indistinct, body narrower, central portion of pronotum darkened; apices of parameres bi- or tridentate (unidentate in S. malaccanus sp. n.).
