Diagnosis. Species of small to medium size (4.3–6.3 mm), distinguished by pale coloration, very prominent pterygia, flattened eyes, robust metatarsi with non-elongated onychium and ovoid elytra.

Distribution. Central Italy and south-eastern France, recorded in Italy from Tuscany, Lazio and Abruzzo and in France from Alpes Maritimes to Bouches du Rhône (type locality: Italy). Spanish literature records: Lérida: Urgel; Mallorca: Palma ( Iglesias Iglesias, 1922). Presence in Spain as for the preceding species; the record from Mallorca likely deriving from the erroneous synonymy proposed by Reitter (1913) of P. tenuicornis Schaufuss, 1882 (now Pseudomeira , see below) with H. cremieri .
