Type host: Sturnus vulgaris Linnaeus ( Passeriformes : Sturnidae ). Type locality: Kirghizia.

FEMALE (6 specimens from type host species from Poland). Total body length 1035–1190. Gnathosoma . Infracapitulum apunctate. Each medial branch of peritremes with 4–5, each lateral branch with 13–14 chambers. Length of apunctate stylophore and movable cheliceral digit 230–245 and 175–185 respectively. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield sculptured and punctate near bases of setae vi, ve and si, concave on anterior margin, bearing bases of setae vi, ve, si, se and c1. Length ratio of setae vi:ve:si 1:2.5:3–4. Setae se situated anterior to level of c1. Hysteronotal shields present, apunctate. Pygidial shield present, punctate, anterior margin indiscernible. Genital setae shorter than aggenital setae. Length ratio of setae g1:ag2 1:3.5–4. Setae ag1–3 subequal in length. Coxal fields I–IV punctate. Setae 3c about 1.5 times longer than 3b. Legs. Fan-like setae p’ and p” of legs III and IV with 9–11 tines. Setae tc” of legs III and IV twice as long as tc’III–IV. Apodemes I fused to apodemes II in middle part of apodemes II. Lengths of setae: vi 95–105, ve 245–275, si 300–340, se 360–375, c1 360–380, c2 300–350, d1 360–385, d2 340–370, e2 340–380, f1 80–95, f2 360–370, h1 80–95, ps1 and ps2 30–40, g1 50–60, g2 60–80, ag1 200–305, ag2 235–285, ag3 270–325, l’RIII 65–70, l’RIV 65–70, tc’III–IV 55–65, tc”III–IV 105–130, 3b 105–120, 3c 195–200.

MALE (4 specimens from type host species from Poland). Total body length 645–700. Gnathosoma . Hypostomal apex with pair of short and sharp-ended protuberances. Each medial branch of peritremes with 4–5 chambers, each lateral branch with 13–15 chambers. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield apunctate, deeply concave on anterior margin, bearing bases of setae vi, ve, si, se and c1. Length ratio of setae vi:ve:si 1:1.3:5.5. Setae se situated slightly anterior to level of c1. Hysteronotal shield fused to pygidial shield, apunctate. Setae d2 twice as long as e2. Setae h2 5.5–8.5 times longer than f2. Coxal fields I–IV apunctate. Legs. Fan-like seta p’ and p” of legs III and IV with 6–7 tines. Setae tc”III–IV 1.5–1.8 longer than tc’III–IV. Lengths of setae: vi 35–45, ve 45–55, si 195–295, se 205, c1 205–215, c2 250, d1 25–30, d2 55, e2 25 –30, h2 variable 165–255, f2 30–35, ag1 70–100, ag2 85–100, ag3 120–140, l’RIII 55, l’RIV 55, tc’III–IV 40, tc”III–IV 60.

Type material (not examined). Type material of this species is lost (Dr A.V. Bochkov ( ZISP) pers. com.) .

Non-type material examined. Sturnus vulgaris Linnaeus ( Passeriformes : Sturnidae ): 8 females, 4 males, 4 nymphs, 2 larvae ( AMU –SYR.44A) (sec.); POLAND, Zachodniopomorskie, Swinoujscie , June 2001, coll. G. Kiljan. Material deposited in the AMU. Same host species: 3 females, 1 male, 4 nymphs ( AVB 05–0715 019 ); KAZAKHSTAN, 25 July 1970, coll. A.V. Bochkov. Material deposited in the ZISP . Same host species: 4 females, 1 nymph ( AVB 05–0715 020 ); KIRGHIZIA, Chuyskaya valley (42°25'00"N, 74°30'00"E), 8 May 1973, coll. P. Chirov. Material deposited in the ZISP . Same host species: 4 females, 2 nymphs ( AMU –SYR.44B); UKRAINE, Alushta , June 2001, coll. R. Prokop. Material deposited in the AMU .

Host range and habitat. Monoxenous species inhabiting quills of secondary feathers of Sturnus vulgaris .

Distribution. Poland, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Kirghizia.
