CURRENT STATUS: Unjustified emendation of Thrychogena Rondani, 1856 ; junior synonym of Loewia Egger, 1856 . New synonymy.

FAMILY: TACHINIDAE .

REMARKS: This is one of two original spellings (the other is Tricogena , page 84) in Rondani (1859b), both of which are eligible as emendations by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “y” to “i” in the same work; however, as both names are used for the same taxon ( Thrychogena Rondani, 1856 ), they cannot both be emendations. Acting as First Reviser, we select Thricogena as the correct original spelling, which relegates Tricogena (q. v.) to unavailable name status. Thrychogena Rondani, 1856 is currently treated as a junior synonym of Loewia Egger, 1856 [ teste Herting & Dely-Draskovits (1993: 306) ].

REMARKS: Name made available as an emendation by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “t” to “th” in the same work. Tricophthicus Rondani, 1861 is currently treated as a junior synonym of Thricops Rondani, 1856 [ teste Pont (1986b: 64) ].
