This Palearctic species was described from Slovakia and is widespread in Europe ( Vierbergen 2022), North Africa and Middle east ( Bhatti et al. 2009). It exhibits considerable variation, such that the microtrichial comb on tergite VIII varies from well-developed teeth to fine microtrichia that may be absent in some specimens; pronotum with 3–4 pairs of postero marginal setae between inner pair of posteroangular setae; sternal discal setae vary in number ( Mound et al. 1976). However, it can be seperated from other members of the genus in Saudi Arabia by the characters given in the key.
