Diagnosis. Male body length 25.5–30.0 mm. Female body length 29.0–33.0 mm. Anteocular region from three to four times as long as postocular region. First antennal segment attaining level of apex of clypeus. Pronotum piceous to black, in some cases hind lobe of pronotum slightly lighter colored. Humeral angles rounded. Hemelytra uniformly dark, slightly surpassing apex of abdomen (males), or attaining base or at most middle of urotergite VIII (females). Fore and mid tibiae of males with small spongy fossulae, absent in females. Connexival segments dark, with orange-yellow outer margin dorsally and ventrally.

Specimens examined. Mexico. 1 female ( CAIM), Sinaloa, Culiacán, Gruñidora, 05 v 2018 , n/d. 1 female ( CAIM), Sinaloa, Higueritas, Braguecito, 23 iv 2018 , n/d. 1 male ( CAIM), Sinaloa, Higueritas, San Cayetano, 23 iv 2018 , n/d.

Distribution. Mexico: Chihuahua, Nayarit, Sinaloa, and Sonora; and USA: Arizona ( Galvão et al. 2003; Bern et al. 2011).

Comments. Triatoma recurva has been putatively related to T. gerstaeckeri and T. lecticularia ( Lent & Wygodzinsky 1979; Schofield & Galvão 2009). Molecular studies reveal a close relationship with species of the T. phyllosoma species group ( Pfeiler et al. 2006; Espinoza et al. 2013; De la Rúa et al. 2014; Rengifo-Correa et al. 2021). Besides, T. recurva has reproductive compatibility with T. phyllosoma and T. pallidipennis ( Martínez-Ibarra et al. 2015b; Rengifo-Correa et al. 2021). Distribution of T. recurva does not overlap with the former two species, thus hybrids could be absent in the field ( Rengifo-Correa et al. 2021).
