Euchone rosea Langerhans, 1884

NEW RECORDS: BM34, BM44.

REMARKS: Giangrande and Licciano (2006) recorded this species in coralligenous deposits in the SA (Brindisi) and reported its general distribution as being Madeira Island, coasts of Ireland and the Mediterranean Sea. They considered however that the specimens reported as E. rosea from soft sediments in the Mediterranean Sea could belong to a different taxon. This could also be the case of the previous NA records of E. rosea from the Gulf of Trieste (Aleffi et al. 1987-1988, Aleffi et al. 2003; Simonini et al. 2004) and from off the Venice Lagoon ( Simonini et al. 2004). Some of those specimens may belong to Euchone pararosea Giangrande & Licciano 2006 , a species only recently reported in the NA on soft bottoms (see above). However E. rosea was also found on soft bottom stations in the NA, reported in this list, as confirmed by A. Giangrande.
