Diagnostic characters. The new species can be included in the genus Epoicocladius by having bare wings, eyes and squama, and separated from others species in the genus by anal point triangular, needle shaped apically, and inferior volsella strongly developed, triangular, anteriorly and posteriorly bare, without projection.

Type material. Holotype: ♂ ( BDN No. 12976). CHINA: Sichuan Province, Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Garzê , Yajiang County, 14. vi. 1996, light trap, X. Wang . Paratype: 1♂ ( BDN No. 12653), same as holotype .

Etymology. Name after Xin-Hua Wang, for the collector of the materials and his outstanding contribution to the knowledge of Chironomidae in China.

Distribution. Oriental China (Sichuan Provinces)

Discussion. The species agree with the generic diagnostic characters of Epoicocladius by Cranston et al. (1989) by having bare wings, eyes and squama, straight gonostylus and elongate apical palp segment. It differs from other members of the genus by having triangular and needle shaped apically anal point and inferior volsella without pro- jection. The main difference of morphological characters among the genus are listed in table 2 View TABLE 2 .

Female, pupa and larva are unknown.
