Description. FEMALE: (n = 5, dorsal view) Body fusiform, 183 (183–223), 55 (55–80) wide; white in color. Gnathosoma 16 (16–18), projecting obliquely down, pedipalp coxal seta (ep) 2 (2–3), dorsal pedipalp genual seta (d) 3 (3–4), cheliceral stylets 13 (13–16). Prodorsal shield 40 (40–53), 55 (55–62) wide, median, admedian and submedian lines absent, with many little pits; anterior shield lobe broad and round. Scapular tubercles on rear shield margin, 38 (38–40) apart, scapular setae (sc) 7 (6–7), projecting posteriorly. Coxigenital region with 6 (6–8) smooth annuli. Coxal plates smooth, anterolateral setae on coxisternum І (1b) 7 (7–8), 11 (11–15) apart, proximal setae on coxisternum І (1a) 18 (18–21), 8 (8–12) apart, proximal setae on coxisternum І (2a) 23 (23–25), 22 (22– 32) apart, tubercles 1b and 1a apart 6 (6–8), tubercles 1a and 2a 7 (7–11) apart. Prosternal apodeme 8 (7–8). Legs with usual series of setae. Leg І 23 (23–25), femur 8 (8–9), basiventral femoral seta (bv) 5 (5–7); genu 3 (3–4), antaxial genual seta (l ') 20 (20–21); tibia 5 (5–6), paraxial tibial seta (l ') 4 (4–5), located at 1/3 from dorsal base; tarsus 5 (5–6), seta ft ' 17 (17–21), seta ft ' 18 (18–22), seta u ' 3 (3–4); tarsal empodium (em) 5 (5–6), simple, 4-rayed, tarsal solenidion (ω) 5 (5–6), knobbed. Leg І 21 (21–23), femur 8 (7–8), basiventral femoral seta (bv) 3 (3–4); genu 3 (2–3), antaxial genual seta (l ') 4 (4–5); tibia 3 (3–4); tarsus 5 (5–6), seta ft ' 5 (4–5), seta ft ' 18 (18– 20), seta u ' 4 (4–5); tarsal empodium (em) 5 (5–6), simple, 4-rayed, tarsal solenidion (ω) 5 (5–6), knobbed. Opisthosoma: dorsally with 17 (17–19) broad annuli, anterior nine annuli forming thickened bands, with three ridges, few fissures present on dorsal and lateral ridges, ventrally with 48 (48–50) annuli, with elliptical microtubercles on rear annular margins. Setae c2 15 (15–18) on ventral annulus 7 (7–9), 50 (50–65) apart; setae d 41 (41–45) on ventral annulus 17 (17–18), 35 (35–45) apart; setae e 7 (6–7) on ventral annulus 29 (29–30), 17 (17– 18) apart, setae f 11 (11–18) on 5th ventral annulus from rear, 13 (13–15) apart. Setae h1 2 (2–3), h2 50 (50–53). Female genitalia 12 (12–13), 20 (20–25) wide, coverflap with 7 longitudinal ridges, setae 3a 11 (11–12), 16 (16– MALE: (n = 3, dorsal view) Body fusiform, 166–167, 52–53 wide; white in color. Gnathosoma 13–14, projecting obliquely down, pedipalp coxal seta (ep) 2–3, dorsal pedipalp genual seta (d) 3–4, cheliceral stylets 12– 13. Prodorsal shield 40–41, 55–56 wide, median, admedian and submedian lines absent, with many little pits; coxisternum І (1b) 5–6, 10–11 apart, proximal setae on coxisternum І (1a) 8–10, 6–7 apart, proximal setae on coxisternum І (2a) 21–22, 20–21 apart, tubercles 1b and 1a apart 6–7, tubercles 1a and 2a 6–7 apart. Prosternal apodeme 7–8. Legs with usual series of setae. Leg І 20–21, femur 6–7, basiventral femoral seta (bv) 5–6; genu 3– 4, antaxial genual seta (l ') 19–20; tibia 4–5, paraxial tibial seta (l ') 3–4, located at 1/3 from dorsal base; tarsus 5–6, seta ft ' 17–18, seta ft ' 17–18, seta u ' 3–4; tarsal empodium (em) 5–6, simple, 4-rayed, tarsal solenidion (ω) 5–6, knobbed. Leg І 18–20, femur 6–7, basiventral femoral seta (bv) 6–7; genu 2–3, antaxial genual seta (l ') 4–5; tibia 3–4; tarsus 5–6, seta ft ' 3–4, seta ft ' 12–16, seta u ' 3–4; tarsal empodium (em) 5–6, simple, 4-rayed, tarsal solenidion (ω) 5–6, knobbed. Opisthosoma: dorsally with 17–19 broad annuli, anterior nine annuli forming thickened bands, with three ridges, few fissures present on dorsal and lateral ridges, ventrally with 48–51 annuli, with elliptical microtubercles on rear annular margins. Setae c2 15–18 on ventral annulus 9–10, 45–46 apart; setae d 30–31 on ventral annulus 17–18, 30–35 apart; setae e 5–6 on ventral annulus 29–30, 15–16 apart, setae f 13–15 on 5th ventral annulus from rear, 14–15 apart. Setae h1 2–3, h2 56–58. Male genitalia 17–20 wide, setae 3a 7–8, 14–15 apart.

Type material. Holotype, female (slide number NJAUAcariEriH33, marked Holotype), from Ulmus davidiana Planch. var. japonica (Sarg. ex Rehder) Nakai (Ulmaceae) , Huzhong District, Heilongjiang Province, P. R. China, 52°01'44''N, 123°35'44''E, elevation 512m, 22 July 2008, coll. Xiao-Feng Xue, Zhen Wang & Zi-Wei Song. Paratypes, 4 females and 3 males (slide number NJAUAcariEriH33), with the same data as holotype.

Relation to host. Vagrant on leaf surface. No damage to the host was observed.

Etymology. The specific designation huzhongiensis is from the name of location, Huzhong District, where the new species were collected.

Differential diagnosis. This species is similar to Shevtchenkella ulmi ( Farkas, 1960) , from Ulmus minor Mill. , but can be differentiated from the latter by the round frontal lobe (frontal lobe broad in S. ulmi ) and prodorsal shield without submedian lines (submedian lines present in S. ulmi ). The new species is also similar to Shevtchenkella gnatholoba Flechtmann, 1999 , from Trema micrantha (L.) Blum., but can be differentiated from the latter by dorsal annuli with three ridges (dorsal annuli evenly curved in S. gnatholoba ), female coverflap with 7 ridges (female coverflap smooth in S. gnatholoba ), and opisthosoma with narrow ventral annuli (with broad ventral annuli in S. gnatholoba ).
