Chloropidae View in CoL View at ENA
With nearly 3,000 species, this is one of the richest families of acalyptrate flies ( Evenhuis & Pape 2020). Rondani (1856, 1869 c, 1873 c, 1876a) described five Palaearctic nominal species, none of which is considered as valid: four are currently considered as junior synonyms, and one ( Madiza fabae ) is not included in any recent catalog (Dely- Draskovits 1983, Nartshuk 1984b, Canzoneri et al. 1995). The genus Madiza Fallén, 1810 belongs to Milichiidae , a family proposed by Schiner (1862a), but Rondani misidentified the genus and placed Madiza fabae in Chloropidae , a family he proposed in 1856. In his paper on the Rondani types at MZUB, Morge (1959b) listed one name (nomen nudum) that he attributed to Rondani. Dely-Draskovits (1983) designated a lectotype for Oscinis aristolochiae Rondani, 1869 and Oscinis delpinii Rondani, 1869 in the MZUF. Except for two syntypes of two species in the OUMNH, the type material has been recovered for all nominal species and is in the MZUF.
